Feast: Poems of Tomaž Šalamun (2000 1st English Ed. HC in DJ)

Feast: Poems of Tomaž Šalamun edited by Charles Simic (2000 First English Translation Edition, Hardcover in Dust Jacket) This could be a very satisfying book -- for a certain kind of reader. If you like your poems rational, if you like them unified, if you like or require a coherent voice, elegant arguments, recognizable poetic conventions, a story (or backstory), then you may find yourself frustrated. To read Tomaž Šalamun is to understand the delights of contemporary poetry. He is one of the major names in the international avant-garde. Irreverent, self-mythologizing, tragic, and visionary, he is a poet of immense range and cunning, able to encompass everything from Balkan wars and politics to the most intimate personal experiences. This is his third book translated into English. xiii + 98pp Tomaž Šalamun (1941 – 2014) was a Slovenian poet who was a leading figure of postwar neo-avant-garde poetry in Central Europe and an internationally acclaimed absurdist. His books of Slovene poetry have been called a poetic bridge between old European roots and America. These copies are from a book store inventory. Never sold outside of publisher to store.
