Handcrafted from shaped wood panels with a fixed wooden carrying handle, dark metal/iron reinforcing bands and corner brackets, and painted Asian calligraphy/character markings on the exterior.  Originally made as a utilitarian rice or grain measuring/harvesting vessel, these old wooden measures are now highly sought after as rustic Asian folk art and primitive home décor.
