A wonderfully sculptural vintage Mexican artisan brooch with a necklace bale featuring an embracing celestial sun and moon rendered in contrasting sterling silver and brass. The layered construction creates beautiful depth, with the polished sterling moon overlapping the textured brass sun in a design that feels equal parts modernist and folk art. Negative space bring the faces to life—pierced stars, a crescent moon, softly sculpted lips, and engraved celestial details create an expressive composition. Marked MEXICO 925 and LATON. 24.57 g approx. 2.5 across and 2.75 tall Good vintage condition with age-appropriate wear. The silver shows light surface scratches consistent with normal use. The brass retains a natural aged patina and oxidation. One point on the sterling moon is slightly asymmetrical from manufacture or early wear (shown clearly in the final close-up photograph) but does not detract from the overall presentation. Clasp functions securely. Can also be worn as a pendant.
