Crossing Oceans is a 19th-century maritime economic strategy board game designed by Mac Gerdts and published by Rio Grande Games. Designed for 2 to 4 players ages 14 and up, players act as shipping magnates building a modern merchant fleet of steamships to dominate historical ocean trade routes, construct trading posts, manage coal supplies, and compete for the prestigious Blue Riband. The box contains a double-sided world map game board, 108 wooden pieces, 222 cardboard tokens, 80 banknotes, player aids, and an almanac rulebook. Ships are managed using an interactive rondel action selection mechanic on a gameplay loop lasting approximately 45 to 90 minutes. Ships undergo natural obsolescence as newer technology is acquired, making efficiency, port capture, and flag accumulation central to victory. Ships quickly from a smoke-free home!
