Douglass (1901-1992) was born in rural David City, Nebraska, and became a public school teacher in Lincoln. For a time she also worked at a bookstore where she met many well-known Nebraska authors, such as Mari Sandoz. These delightful memoirs were printed in 1983 by J & L Lee Company of Lincoln. They delightfully evoke the daily routines of average people in Nebraska in the early 20th century. Many of these chapters appeared in a serialized column in the Lincoln Sunday Journal and Star from 1981-83
