Vintage Murano Harlequin Tre Fuochi Goblets — Set of 6 EUC
Venetian
6 goblets, 6 jewel colors: ruby red, amethyst, amber gold, cobalt blue, emerald green, and aqua teal. That full color range is much more desirable than a pair. • Form: oversized balloon bowl, twisted optic stem, clear foot, gold rim on both the mouth and the foot, and a wide gold damask scroll band around the bowl. • Size: about 6.5 to 7 inches tall, about 8 to 10 oz. That's the standard wine / water size for this line. • Technique: hand blown, cased colored glass with fired on gold enamel decoration. Why they are called Murano / Venetian The twisted stem, the gold leaf filigree band, and the bright transparent colors are classic Venetian export glass from the 1950s to 1970s. Listings describe them as Tre Fuochi glasses, meaning three firings for color, gold, and enamel. Similar sets are attributed to Salviati and other Murano houses and sold as Italian Venetian hand blown Murano with gold decoration. Most of this style was made in Murano or in Empoli for the American market. You will rarely find a maker mark. Check the bottom for a polished pontil and some wear to the gold, that is normal and helps confirm age. Age and maker notes Circa 1960s to early 1970s. Sometimes labeled Cristalleria Fratelli Betti, Salviati, or just Murano Style. Vendors today list them as Venetian Murano crystal stemware with gold leaf. Whether Murano or Empoli, the market treats them as the same collectible family.
