Vintage Shenango China Gravy Boat Detached Underplate Chess Piece Pattern DB-41

Vintage Shenango China gravy boat with a separate Anchor Hocking/Shenango underplate. Both pieces feature an ivory-colored glaze with ribbed details and a black geometric border resembling small chess pieces or finials.  The gravy boat is marked Shenango China DB-41, while the underplate is marked Shenango China / Anchor Hocking AQ-45. The pieces coordinate closely but have different backstamp codes and are not permanently attached.  A handsome piece of vintage American restaurant ware suitable for serving gravy or sauces, or for display in a retro kitchen and dining collection.
